What Is
a Logo?

Think of the golden arches, the bitten apple, the swoosh. No words needed. In an instant, you know exactly who they belong to. That is the quiet power of a logo.
A logo is a unique visual mark a symbol, wordmark, or combination of both that represents a brand, company, or individual. It is the face of an identity, the first thing people see and often the last thing they remember.
The word itself comes from the Greek logos, meaning “word” or “reason.” Historically, merchants stamped their goods with seals to prove authenticity. Today, logos have evolved into sophisticated tools of communication that work across every medium imaginable — from a business card to a billboard to a tiny app icon on your phone.
